    Brazil were accorded a low key send off here as they left for Europe on a quest to claim a sixth World Cup.

    For the first time Carlos Parreira’s defending champions flew out for a World Cup finals without any official leaving ceremony.

    Lehmann says Germany must forget World Cup pressure

    German international goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has urged his team-mates to try and enjoy next month’s World Cup finals and forget the pressure the hosts are under to win the competition.

    Germany kick off the World Cup on June 9 against Costa Rica in Munich and the pressure is on the three-time winners to deliver in front of their demanding public.

    17 is not a new thing to world cup, people with this age have been influential in many football world cups and other important leagues. While Maradona played at the age of 15, Beckham at the age of 16, Raul at age of 17, Pavel Nedved at age of 19 and the list goes on to say that all the best and famous players have made it big at such tender ages and proved that their energy is far more better and important and overshadows their inexperience.

    Firefox Extension: Realtime World Cup Scores 

    Here is a Firefox extension to track World Cup scores in real time. What’s supposed to happen is that you’ll see the score of games being played in the status bar, real-time. The page is in German but you can see the extension link and also some screenshots.

    Beckham: I am happy to remain in Spain

    England captain David Beckham wants to stay in Spain even after retiring from football, the Real Madrid midfielder has said in an interview.

    The 31-year-old said he had no desire to make England his permanent home again and would not consider playing for any club other than Real and Manchester United, the English Premiership outfit where he made his name.

    The 31-year-old England centre-half is rumoured to have been offered a three-year deal worth 70,000 pounds (89,000 dollars) a week.

    Campbell scored Arsenal’s first half goal against Barcelona in last week’s Champions League final which Arsene Wenger’s side went on to lose 2-1.

    Job of Lippi at risk, say Italian press

    Marcello Lippi’s job as Italy coach could be at risk due to his relationship with Luciano Moggi and GEA, the firm of football agents run by Moggi’s son.

    Lippi was questioned for three hours on Friday as part of an investigation into the control Moggi, the central figure in the Serie A match-fixing scandal, and GEA are alleged to have had over Italian football.
