    UEFA to contact Italian football commissar over scandal

    European football’s governing body UEFA want to meet with Guido Rossi the newly-installed emergency administrator of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) their director-general said.

    Lars-Christer Olsson, who is attending the UEFA executive committee meeting here, said that it was important to meet as soon as possible with Rossi to see how his investigation into the scandal surrounding several of Italy’s top clubs was developing.

      This thing is very big and cannot be underestimated. It’s still warming up, investigators have offered the media only a tiny portion of what they’ve got. The goo is already leaking out the door, across the borders of Italy. A contract between Fulham and FC Juventus is under investigation. Tapped phone conversations between corrupted managers show that the bribery (and remote-control appointment) of referees was common not only in the Campionato, but also in the Champions’ League. It’s a continental scandal. I built a lenspage on squidoo with daily updates on the Italian soccer scandal, background info, rss feeds etc. As complete and up-to-date as possible.     Diarra snubs Man United for Real: report

    Lyon’s Mali international Mahamadou Diarra has “angered” Manchester United bosses by claiming he favours a move to Real Madrid.

    According to the Madrid daily, Diarra’s agent Frederic Guerra had agreed a transfer fee with the English Premiership giants – 30 million euros (38 million dollars) – and the duration of the contract and all that was required was the player’s signature – but Diarra broke off negotiations with United.
