Barca Drown Gunners

Barca 2 – Arsenal 1, that’s the final score at the final of 50th UEFA Champions League. Henry missed a point blank range shot in the 4th minute and then a kick in 6th minute. 37 minutes later Arsenal fire through Campbell’s header but they were unbalanced by the red card shown to goalkeeper Jens Lehmann for bringing down Samuel Eto’o.

10 men and 70 minutes to defend Barca is very tough task, Arsenal did well till 74 minutes but failed when BarcaA striker Eto’o strike hard to equalize and 6 minutes later Belletti found one after being picked out by Larsson’s right-wing cross to take the lead. Though Henry tried hard it was too late.

Barca won but Henry was not happy with referee. “We can be more than proud but I am sorry, some of the refereeing was horrendous” is what he said after the match. Frustration was all over and could be seen on manager Wenger’s face and he said, “We were quite comfortable, it was a matter of concentration”. Overall a good fight but Arsenal had to face a loss that was made inevitable by Barca.

Personally I feel Arsenal lost their chances when Henry failed to fire from point blank range, if that goal would have fired it could have been a totally a different game. Barca from start seemed to be more on defensive stance although it changed after Lehman was off the field. I guess Barca started really pushing on Arsenal after the second half after some pushing from their manager. Barca realized it late but was on time to save their glory. Henry was not the usual runner; to me he seemed a bit dull. This might be the effect of all the speculations of him leaving Arsenal. But it was clear it was not the usual Henry.

Finally it was exiting, electrifying experience to watch the final of 50th UEFA champions league.
