England desperate for Rooney!
All the speculations about Rooney’s foot are on a high, Eriksson is not giving up on trying getting Rooney for world cup. His next scan is on 7th June a week earlier than planned.
Rooney, 20, had been due to fly to Germany with the rest of the England World Cup squad on 5 June, returning a week-and-a-half later for the scan. However, it was decided at a meeting on Monday to bring that date forward. The deadline for England to change their squad is 9 June, which means now they will have time to replace Rooney should the scan provide bad news.
Jermain Defoe of Tottenham and Andy Johnson, set to move from Crystal Palace to Everton, are the strikers standing by to replace Manchester United man Rooney if he cannot play at the World Cup.
However, if the scan on 7 June shows that the fourth metatarsal in Rooney’s right foot has healed, he would have three days to get fit for England’s first group game or, more likely, two-and-a-half weeks to prepare for the first knockout round match should England qualify. A statement issued by Manchester United read: “It has been agreed to obtain a further precautionary CT scan on June 7 in order to help the England management to make a decision (on Rooney’s fitness) before the deadline of 9 June.
“Both parties agree that everything possible is being done to aid recovery of a fracture that involves the joint.”
The last line of that statement represents the first confirmation that Rooney’s fracture involves a joint – and those types of injuries can take longer to heal.
However, neither Eriksson nor Ferguson issued any further comments about Rooney’s hopes of participating in his first World Cup. Well the denial of all statements won’t stop the world feeling the desperation England’s having for Rooney to play for the World cup. All this makes up for the part that Rooney’s the card England want to play definitely. And after all these efforts, if Rooney underperforms that would certainly be a big disappointment as well as a disgusting feeling for the English of putting too much on a jack.
The point I am trying to make is simple, all these lime lights and media attention and the desperation has put Rooney in pressure of performing and not only performing but making England win, and as far as I have seen this guy England’s investing in the right guy.
