Garcia replaces Torres in Spain squad

Espanyol striker Luis Garcia was on Wednesday called up to the Spain squad for Euro 2008 qualifiers next month against Latvia and Liechtenstein.
Garcia gets his chance for the June 2 and 6 fixtures after Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres suffered ankle ligament damage in training on Tuesday and pulled out of the squad.
Luis Aragones’s Spanish international squad, struggling to find their best form, play Latvia first and then Liechtenstein four days later in matches they would expect to take a maximum six points from.
The Spanish are currently only third in Group F behind pace-setters Northern Ireland and Sweden with Denmark breathing down their necks.
