Lahm to return against Colombia
German international left back Philipp Lahm is poised to make his comeback in Friday’s friendly match against Colombia, manager Jurgen Klinsmann said.
Bayern Munich defender Lahm needed an operation on his left elbow after falling awkwardly in Germany’s 7-0 win over amateur side Luckenwalde on May 16 and has not played since.
“Philipp is in our plans. We hope he can play against Colombia but we are not sure whether he will be fully fit,” Klinsmann said at a press conference.
“His return would be a real plus as he has really developed in the left back role over the past two years.”
The 22-year-old Lahm, capped 17 times by his country, is first choice at left back and Klinsmann will be keen to give him some competitive action before the opening game against Costa Rica on June 9.
