Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United has taken a new twist after the winger was reported as saying he would like to play for Real Madrid.
Real have been tracking Ronaldo, 23, despite being warned off by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
“I’d like to play for Real Madrid but only if it’s true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them,” he told respected Brazilian website Terra.
“However, it does not depend on me,” said Portuguese midfielder.

Portsmouth assistant manager Tony Adams has agreed a new one-year deal with the FA Cup winners, according to the club’s chief executive Peter Storrie.
The former Arsenal and England defender has been Harry Redknapp’s right-hand man since 2006 and his current one-year contract is about to expire.
But with the club taking part in the Uefa Cup next season, the 41-year-old has agreed to remain at Fratton Park.
“It has been verbally agreed for him to stay,” said Storrie.

Mark Hughes has been appointed as the new manager of Manchester City after signing a three-year contract.
Hughes held talks with the City hierarchy in London on Tuesday evening and agreed to leave Blackburn after a second round of talks.
City’s only concern was a late move by Chelsea, but BBC Sport believes Hughes was never a serious contender.
And City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has now landed his top target after Sven-Goran Eriksson’s departure.
Shinawatra said: “He’s an outstanding manager who has achieved many things with Blackburn.

Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna has signed what the club describes as a new “long-term” contract.
The 25-year-old joined the Gunners from Auxerre last summer and made 40 appearances during the 2007/08 season.
His form resulted in him being included in the PFA Team of the Year and winning two international caps for France.
Arsenal are looking to secure their younger talent following the out-of-contract departure of midfielder Mathieu Flamini to AC Milan.
The announcement of Sagna’s new deal did not stipulate the length of his contract, although one news agency reported it will run until 2014.

A first-half penalty by Franck Ribery managed not to ruin Thierry Henry’s 100th international appearance and give France a 1-0 win over Colombia in their final warm-up match before Euro 2008.
The 25-year-old Bayern Munich star slotted home the penalty after Henry was fouled in the 23rd minute for his fourth goal in 27 international appearances while coach Raymond Domenech will be delighted that his side has not conceded a goal in their last four matches.
However, the lack of goals up front will cause him some worries, though, the sphinx like coach didn’t seem too concerned by that afterwards.
