    Kewell’s Liverpool future on the line

    Harry Kewell has been told by Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez that he faces an uphill battle to land a new contract at Anfield.

    Australia international Kewell, 29, becomes a free agent at the end of the current Premier League season and no talks have yet taken place to discuss new terms that would keep the former Leeds United forward on Merseyside.

    FA to examine Cardiff’s Euro eligibility

    Domenech confident Henry’s best is yet to come

    France coach Raymond Domenech insisted Thursday that he has no worries about Thierry Henry’s form, insisting that the Barcelona’s striker has yet to reach his peak.

    “If you want to see the real Thierry Henry, buy the DVD of Euro 2008,” quipped Domenech, attending a seminar for coaches here.

    United unafraid of Champions League draw, says Park

    Park Ji-Sung insists Manchester United fear no one ahead of the draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

    Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will go into the hat along with Premier League rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool along with Barcelona, AS Roma, Schalke 04 and Fenerbahce at European football governing body UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday.

    Defoe double helps Pompey down Birmingham

    Jermain Defoe scored twice for Portsmouth as the FA Cup favourites beat Birmingham City 4-2 to move into seventh place at Fratton Park here Wednesday.

    In their first match since their shock FA Cup win against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Defoe put Pompey 2-0 up in front of their own fans inside the first nine minutes.

    Ghana-born teen Freddy Adu of Benfica leads the host United States into an eight-team North American qualifying tournament showdown for two Beijing Olympics berths starting here Tuesday.

    US teammates for the 18-year-old Portuguese-based playmaker include Jonathan Spector, a defender for West Ham United; Charlie Davies, a forward for Sweden’s Hammarby and Sal Zizzo, a midfielder for Germany’s Hannover 96.

    Argentina’s Louse signs with US Wizards

    Argentine forward Claudio Lopez is nicknamed “The Louse” but the Kansas City Wizards are hoping to avoid a lousy 2008 Major League Soccer season after signing him Monday.

    Lopez, 33, has 10 goals in 58 caps for Argentina’s national team and played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups.

    Ronaldo fears English football´s bullies

    Cristiano Ronaldo has said poor refereeing standards in English football have left him ’scared’ to play his natural game after a controversial performance by referee Martin Atkinson contributed to Manchester United’s shock 1-0 FA Cup exit at the hands of Portsmouth.

      Christiano Ronaldo has absoloutely nothing to complain about.

      If you ask me he is an absoloute discrace to the English game.

      He dives around like a fairy so much there’s no wonder some ref’s don’t give him anything even if he is actually fouled.

      What annoys me about him so much is that he obvously has talent , why can’t he just play football without the dramatics?

      Ronaldo = Fairy
