    Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes he can rival Sir Alex Ferguson’s 21-years at Manchester United after admitting he would be lost without the pressure of management.

    Wenger takes charge of his 635th game at Arsenal against Reading on Monday and recently signed a contract keeping him at the Emirates Stadium until at least the summer of 2010

    Strugglers Marseille overturn the formbook

    Strugglers Marseille showed current form cannot always gauge the outcome as they beat French league leaders Lyon 2-1 for only their third win of the season thanks to two goals from Mamadou Niang.

    An eventful first half ultimately decided the match between two of France’s big clubs though Marseille’s fourth-from-bottom position hardly gives credence to their major team status.

    Grant tells England to trust Lampard

    Grant has been impressed with the way Lampard responded to being dropped by McClaren with a series of dominant displays for the Blues.

    Rooney ruled out for a month

    Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be sidelined for at least four weeks after suffering an ankle injury in training on Friday.

    Rooney left United’s training ground on crutches and the injury means he will miss England’s final Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia on November 21 and the friendly in Austria six days previously.

    A Congolese player at FC Brussels who walked out after being racially abused by the Belgian club’s president Johan Vermeersch has agreed to return.

    Zola Matumona quit the club after he and his fellow players were lambasted by Vermeersch for a string of poor performances, with the club president telling him to think about things other than “trees and bananas.”

    Champions League holders AC Milan shrugged off their modest domestic form to beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 here on Tuesday and put one foot into the last 16.
