Problems of Serbia-Montenegro will not deter Argentina: Ayala

Serbia-Montenegro
Serbia-Montenegro’s problems will not make any difference to Argentina’s approach to their second Group C match, Argentine full back Roberto Ayala said.

“For us it’s all the same,” said Ayala after a training session, warning that their opponents had lots of strong players.

Serbia and Montenegro’s rising star, defender Nemanja Vidic, tore knee ligaments in his left knee late Monday, and will be out of action for weeks.

The Manchester United player’s woes came on top of dissent in the Serbian camp about tactics. With Vidic as their mainstay, the Serb defence had conceded only one goal in 10 qualifying matches.

Argentina’s Julio Cruz said he was disappointed by what he had seen of Saturday’s clash between the Netherlands and Serbia-Montenegro, which the Dutch won 1-0.

“I don’t know if it was because of the heat, but I thought that both teams were not that impressive,” Cruz said.

“I think that they (Serbia) will play more offensively because they lost the first game, they have to win the second one,” added the forward, who plays with Serb international midfielder Dejan Stankovic at Inter Milan.

“Dejan is the most complete kind of player you find in football. But I don’t know if he can play for this team the same way as he plays for Inter,” he added.
