Rivaldo’s Missing!

Started his career at the age of 16 in 1989 with Santa Cruz FC and 4 year later went on to play for first division SC Corinthians, and in the same year debuted for nationalteam against Mexico in a friendly match and scored the winning and the only goal of the match.

He joined Deportivo La Coruña in the Spanish first division, where he stayed only for one season before moving to the Catalan giants FC Barcelona - the transfer fee was an enormous € 24 million. Brazil continued to call him up for their national side. With the national team he won the Copa America in 1997 and participated in the 1998 World Cup. In the successful defence of the Copa America in 1999 Rivaldo earned himself the distinction as top scorer of the tournament with 5 goals, two thereof in the 3-0 victory over Uruguay in the final.

In 1998 and 1999 he won the Spanish league title with Barcelona, In 1999 Rivaldo also won both, the FIFA and the European Footballer of the Year, honors. In 2002 he signed a three-year contract with the Italian Serie A club AC Milan, where by the end of the 2002/03 season he won the Italian Cup and the European Champions League, where he did not play in the final. In 2004 he returned to Europe joining Greek Alpha Ethniki division club Olympiacos where he won with the team the national championship and cup.

In 2004 he returned to Europe joining Greek Alpha Ethniki division club Olympiacos where he won with the team the national championship and cup.

So much to say about him, that his exclusion from world cup 2006 squad is hard to digest for fans around the world, to me it comes as a total surprise because once such an extraordinary performer and so famous suddenly nowhere. Many of analysts say this because of his unfair play against Turkey where he faked an injury. I don’t think he’s been out of squad for underperforming or something else but it’s a story never told. Its still a big mystery. At a match interruption, Turkish defender Alpay kicked a ball hard towards Rivaldo and hit his thigh. Rivaldo fell over holding his hands to his face indicating that he was hit there. The referee sent Alpay off. After a video review Rivaldo was fined $4,500 (USD) by FIFA for ’simulating’.

. Rivaldo has been always in critic’s hands whenever Brazil has underperformed or lost any match. I guess the critic’s were taking their job too seriously. When I see at Ronaldo, I feel that he’s fought back only because fans across the world, the coach and his team mates had faith in him which led him comeback after a disastrous 1998 World cup. But in case of Rivaldo only Pele seems to be pushing him for the big game, and I guess practically Brazil Football Federation have forgotten Rivaldo and his talent and potential. Pele says midfielder Rivaldo could still have a role to play in Brazil’s team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. “There are a number of players in his position but Rivaldo is a very gifted player so if he is fit he can certainly make it, he still has the talent “said Pele, who was in Greece to open new training facilities at Xanthi.

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari who coached Brazil during 2001 to 2002 knew the deadly stinging combination of Rivaldo and Ronaldo. And during 2002 world cup it was clear how deadly Rivaldo could be. I guess Rivaldo could have played this world cup and could have made the difference. With Ronaldinho maturing enough things could be different, but the way Rivaldo could have helped making the side sharper.

Rivaldo is disturbed about his exclusion and it feels bad when you want to do something important and respectful for your country and you don’t get a chance. Rivaldo told the Brazilian newspaper Diario do Sao Paulo that he was keen to returnto the national team for the 2006 finals. “I wouldn’t mind even being a substitute, I would be very happy if I have the chance to play at least a few minutes in any game.” he said. The fans allover are disturbed and I personally feel Brazil is incomplete without Rivaldo.

This brazil coach and zagalo do not like rivaldo…they have never liked him. they included him in their previous teams because not to do so would have caused a riot in brazil at the time. this coach has always been very cautious…he does not like a lot of improvisations and because Rivlado was not selected, brazil will not win this world cup. I say this not as a fan but because brazil needs experience up front. it also needs someone who has had to prove himself time and time again. He is someone who had to earn his place in the brazil squad…not ones who have been pampered and annointed by the press.I am all for this young stars but i think that they may not rise to the occassion when the game is tough. they know that they have one or two worldcups ahead of them. secondly, if you wanted Ronaldo to shine, who better to make him shine than Rivaldo. They are on the same wave length. watch all his worldcup goals and see how many Rivlado was involved in. Finally, though I am sad rivaldo will not go to germany, I am also happy because when brazil fails, zagalo and brazil will not have to blame him this time around.

What the hell happened here? I can’t believe they would exclude Rivaldo without a SOUND reason! He’s 34 this year, sure, but Cafu got included and he’s already 36!!! Rivaldo, the Brazilian team will be incomplete without you and your awesome scissor kicks.

I was surprised and disappointed to not see Rivaldo on field today against Croatia. He played so spectacularly in the 2002 World Cup; I had assumed he was on the 2006 team. He was far and away the player in the 2002 World Cup that I admired the most.

How shameful it is that Rivoldo is not playing the 2006 world cup. He is such a player who can tight things up very quickle. He is very aggressive, threatning to the hostiles and I m sorry to say that Brazil will miss Rivaldo very badly. Now, I can say that Rivaldo is better than Ronaldo. Please call back Rivaldo.

Parreira made a big mistake that he forgot Rivaldo. Brazil will lose without him. There would be a good trio: Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Rivaldo. Just like before 4 years. F..CK you Parreira

    F**k you Parreira??

I read all of these complaints about Rivaldo’s absence…and I could not agree more! Ronaldo may have scored the most goals in the 2002 World Cup, but there is no doubt in my mind that Rivaldo was the greatest player of the tournament. His absence in 2006 is a travesty and it breaks my heart that he is not in Germany. Go to hell Parreira you F**king clown!!!

Parreira is a fool and today it was confirmed for everyone to see. Rivaldo would have made a difference to a midfield that was lacking creativity against Zidane and France. In 2002 Rivaldo was the best player in the tournament, scoring five times and setting up Ronaldo a few times. Ronaldhino is a great player but never made his mark in Germany. The reason Brazzil struggled at times in Germany and today against France was because their midfield lack creativity.

After last nights loss to France, there is no-one I would love to king-hit right now than Parreira.
Rivaldo would have made a hell of a difference I believe.
Well, either way lets see what happens in another 4 years time… Hopefully with the exclusion of that cocksucker coach.

RIVALDO! THE BEST SOCCER PLAYER I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! BRAZIL IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT RIVALDO, THE MAIN REASON BRAZIL LOST TO FRANCE WAS BEACAUSE OF THE RIVALDOS ABSENCE AND RONALDOS OVERWEIGHT AND RONALDINHO NOT SHOWING HIS BEST SKILLS. HEY BRAZIL YOU SHOOULD BRING RIVALDO BACK, WITHOUT HIM BRAZIL IS INCOMPLETE. HE IS THE BEST SOCCER PLAYER IN THE WORLD. RIVALDO IS THE BEST!!

I’m a Brazilian team fan from Malaysia. I’m really disappointed to see the Brazil team’s performance in Quater-Final game. I’m not a soccer player nor know anything about the tactics, but i could see the team is not playing to the maximun..

I’m really sad. And, you know what. How i wish Rivaldo would be in the team to play in Germany..

The coach should be f*ked left right and center. His failure to read the game against france and bring in the young blood of cicinho and Robinho should not be forgiven. Down with Parreira, He should go ! Period. I also think RIVALDO could have made a difference after all Zidane was able to despite his age. DOWN WITH PARRERROR.
