Sagna signs new Arsenal contract
Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna has signed what the club describes as a new “long-term” contract.
The 25-year-old joined the Gunners from Auxerre last summer and made 40 appearances during the 2007/08 season.
His form resulted in him being included in the PFA Team of the Year and winning two international caps for France.
Arsenal are looking to secure their younger talent following the out-of-contract departure of midfielder Mathieu Flamini to AC Milan.
The announcement of Sagna’s new deal did not stipulate the length of his contract, although one news agency reported it will run until 2014.
“Everyone at the club is looking forward to Bacary’s continued contribution in the forthcoming years,” said a statement on the Arsenal website.
