Spain in Vain or Pain!

France has stopped Spain from going to quarters and not only that, it has put a comma in their consecutive 25 match victory after Euro 2004 defeat against Portugal. Although Spaniards started off well but the unknowing firing from Zidane, Vierra, Henry put them aside convincingly. Although Coach Luis Aragones has a different view about it, he thinks the free kick awarded was wrong and led to this pain.

Referee Roberto Rosetti blew for a foul when Thierry Henry went down after a tackle by Spain defender Carles Puyol. Aragones said: “Their second goal came from a free kick that wasn’t a foul and we were punished by a refereeing error.” When players give everything you can’t ask any more. They’re still young and have another chance in the future.”

Aragones added: “Football is unjust sometimes, but not always. France was very tough opponents.” Goalkeeper Iker Casillas was unable to contain his frustration at Spain’s exit. “We were so close. It was undeserved, an undeserved defeat,” said Casillas. “But that’s football, we’re heading home and there’s nothing we can do about it.”

Even Raul one of the experienced lots couldn’t do much. I guess France just outplayed Spain. I guess Spain were aware of the poor form and performance shown by France earlier in the competition which could have made them a bit relaxed mentally and I guess France bounced back on time which took Spain by surprise and which led to Spain’s Pain and their game which truly went in Vain.
