UEFA charge Addo over spitting incident

PSV Eindhoven’s Ghanaian defender Eric Addo has been charged by European football’s governing body, UEFA, with spitting at an opponent.
The incident occurred during PSV’s Champions League 0-0 draw with Turkish side Fenerbahce on Tuesday.
“Addo is alleged to have spat at an opposition player in the first half of the match,” UEFA said in a statement. “The matter will be dealt with at UEFA’s Control and Disciplinary Body meeting in Nyon on Friday.”
On PSV’s website, Addo acknowledged that he had spat at Fenerbahce’s Semih Senturk whom he accused of hitting him with an elbow, and apologised to club officials.
“PSV cannot accept such behaviour and the business has been settled internally,” said the club’s managing director, Jan Reker.
“Eric is generally an example of correctness and it’s very surprising that he lost his cool. That cannot be allowed to happen.”
