World Cup winner Nesta quits international scene
World Cup winner Alessandro Nesta announced Wednesday he was following Francesco Totti and retiring from international football.
“My story wearing the (Italy) blue shirt is over,” the 31-year-old told a press conference at his club AC Milan’s training centre in Milanello.
In May Nesta signed a new deal with Milan taking his contract up to 2011.
His decision follows 10 days after Totti announced he was quitting the national team to concentrate on his club career with AS Roma.
